"300" Building Update!

Hooray!!!  Within the next month we will be seeing VISIBLE signs of activity and progress on the refurbishment of the 300 auditorium.  As you know, the 300 building on the north end of our campus burned last year.  The building committee has spent many hours evaluating alternatives and developing plans to refurbish the remainder of the building.  Plans are easy to develop – staying within a budget is not so easy!!

The church has just signed a contract with Lippert Brothers, Inc. to provide preconstruction and construction management services at a guaranteed maximum price.  Lippert is a very well respected firm and has been highly recommended by Acts II United Methodist Church in north Edmond, as well as many other churches and companies in Oklahoma.  They will work hand-in-hand with Studio Architecture who has been developing the architectural plans for the refurbishment.

First, the preconstruction work (drawings, engineering assessments, etc.) has to be completed so that the Building Committee can make some decisions about what we can and cannot afford to do in the refurbishment.  Our objective is to create flexible and attractive space for our youth ministry.  And, of course, we want it as soon as possible!  We know we won’t get everything we might wish for, but we believe we will be able to create a very engaging and inviting atmosphere for young people.

We do not yet know a target completion date or an expected cost, but will keep you posted as the project progresses.  If you have any questions, please feel free to give me or another member of the building committee a call.  Other members of the building committee include Jim Putnam, Koko Hook, Denver Woolsey, Kendell Belcher, Carol Monger, and Adrian Cole.

Please pray for a successful project!
